Chamber Music Programs
Merging Western European tradition with South American folk and contemporary American, the Alturas Duo creates spirited and passionate programs that move with ease between the music of Baroque, South American melodies and rhythms learned through the oral tradition, and new repertoire written specifically for the duo and their collaborations. This quest for new musical experiences with their unique combination of instruments, their virtuosity, and diverse range of repertoire have attracted composers to write specifically for the duo as well as the 2010 CMA/ASCAP Award for Adventurous Programming and funding from New Music USA.
